Bird-dogging our Representatives about their Amash/Conyers votes: video, toolkit

Here’s some video of last week’s “bird-dogging Van Hollen” action.  By “bird dogging,” we mean attending events Van Hollen or Delaney are at, publicly (but nondisruptively) drawing attention to their Amash/Conyers “Nay” votes, and asking him about it — if possible, during any Q&A session, if not, after that in one-on-one opportunities.

We don’t currently have information about either Congressperson’s next local event.  But when we do or when you do, here are some items to bring:

  • Petitions (5-10 sheets), clipboards, pens
  • Flyers (100 or more)
  • Wrong on NSA 8.5*11 inch signs (20-30 sheets; print on brightly colored paper if possible). This is a Word document; download and modify as needed for Delaney events and with flip side information appropriate to the event; distribute to petition signers and friends in the audience.  If you do modify an item, please send us an advance approval copy if possible (mococivilrights@gmail.com).

For more talking points on the issue and the Amash/Conyers vote, see our coalition letter and overviews by BORDC, the ACLU, and Defending Dissent.

And if you haven’t signed a paper or online petition yet, please visit our “Van Hollen, Delaney: Wrong on NSA” petition page now (easy URL: http://tinyurl.com/vhjdwrongonnsa) and add your name — thanks!
