Organizing meeting Wednesday, 7pm, McGinty’s in Silver Spring

We’ll be meeting on Wednesday, December 15 at 7pm at McGinty’s, a pub on 911 Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring (map). There’s a parking garage on Wayne Avenue where the gates are open after 8pm, so cars parked there at that time pay no parking fee.  Alternatively, the Silver Spring Metro stop is about a 5 minute walk.

We’ll be discussing how to move forward with a “Civil Rights Restoration Act” in Montgomery County that creates enforceable protections against local police participation in racial and ethnic profiling, federal immigration enforcement, and government spying. Ms. Sahar Aziz, who has been discussing this with county staff, will be on hand to tell us what she’s learned and advise us on the next steps we need to take.
